Grande Ronde River Fishing
Steelhead - Oct 15 through March 15
Smallmouth Bass - August through September
The Grande Ronde has a good population of Rainbow trout above the town of Troy. There are small mouth bass in lower section below Troy. Steelhead trout are throughout the river in winter and spring.
This river gets a lot of fishing pressure from Boggans Resort to a few miles above Troy. The road follows the river through this section allowing for easy fishing access. This section of the Ronde is easy to fish with a canoe or raft.
During the month of August and September the Grande Ronde below Boggans Resort is excellent for catching smallmouth bass. Every hole or pock in the river has one or more fish ready to attack you rubber worm or jig. At times you will have a fish on your line with several in chase. We recommend the Eaglecap Fishing Guides or Winding Waters Rafting www.windingwatersrafting.com

The most stealhead fishing in the Wallowa valley exist in the Grande Ronde River. The stealhead are caught on jigs, eggs, yarn and a fly rod. The best time to fish is in the fall (October or November) or the spring before the snow melts (February or March). The best fishing is in Oregon above Troy. This part of the river gets less fishing pressure and there are some very nice runs and holes in this section of the river.
