Wallowa lake has healthy populations of both Kokanee and Trout with seasons that are open year-round. World renowned for its fishing, the lake now boasts eight state and one world record for Kokanee. In its deep dark waters lurk real monsters too- almost every year some lucky fisher person hauls out a Mackinaw Trout exceeding 22 pounds!

Rent this Cabin or this Cabin and spend your days fishing from your own dock.

 ron campbell record kokanee

This record World-Record Kokanee was an amazing 9.75 lbs and 27 3/4 inches long. It was caught by Ron Campbell on June 13, 2010. Ron won a $300 lodging gift certificate as part of a Wallowa Lake Resort fishing promotional.

The Kokanee in Wallowa Lake are caught by trolling and jigging. We even know a place that you can catch them from the lake shore. During the winter when the lake freezes they are caught them by ice fishing! The following are a few pictures of Kokanee caught during the winter. At check-in as us how to catch them!

Rainbrow Trout

The lake has a good population of rainbow trout. Over 40,000 are stocked in the lake in the spring and the summer allowing most everyone to catch fish. During the winter and early spring the largest fish are caught. Recently a 9.1 lb. fish was caught.

The best places to catch trout include around the marina and the inlet to the lake.
